MICHAEL KORS LEG SHINE TO GO
Legs, ankles, and knees come to a shimmering halt with this glide on glow stick that makes every place it touches come to life beautifully.
A shimmery powder or cream will help you look radiant all over. Apply it on the tops of your arms and shoulders, and across your chest and collarbone. (Put on your dress before applying, and protect it with a towel or cloth.) Use a light touch; too much shimmer can emphasize imperfections and make skin appear greasy in photographs. "You want to look luminous, not shiny or sparkly," says New York City makeup artist Robin Schoen. Most shimmer products come in shades ranging from colorless luminescent (for fair skin) to gold (for dark or tanned complexions). Creams are best for dry skin, powders for normal or oily.
On Top of a Deeper Gloss
Q What's the right way to apply eye shadow? I never know how many shades to use.
-KIM, 26, NEW YORK CITY
A The rule of thumb is to find a light and dark version of the same color; use the first as a "wash" all over your lid and the second as an "accent" in your crease. Play it safe with hues that match and enhance your eye color--or be bold and go for tones that contrast with your eyes. Robin Schoen, a New York City makeup artist, suggests applying shadow with a tapered makeup brush, since "bushier bristles can disperse the powder all over your lid."
